        As soon as I started to work on the archive of the paintings of Pedro Figari, I felt t hat I needed backing and help. Backing and moral support were absolutely necessary, and I haven’t stopped asking for help.

        Foundations, usual in other countries, didn’t exist in  Uruguayan law, so the name is as simple as it could have been within the spirit of what the law said.

        To start with, nine memebers were necessary to go by the rules, and we are still only few more, but those invited were people that within their activities have dealt with the life and work of Figari, as professors of art or history, as officials, or as gallerists or auctioneers.

        My basic concern is the archive, and I expect Sociedad Figari to be a round table where each one can develop his activity as well as possible. Time will show orientations and results.
